Breathing Under Water

Beautiful myths treading water:
The sea's unloved fairy--
Gills glowing beneath waves
Swimming in oceans blue...

Breathing, there, under water
Obscured by mermaid tales
Beautifully rare and wild
Silence's own misunderstood creature.

She played the villain
Her tentacles became taboo
The picture of evil
Wailing like a banshee.

A character of intrigue
Her story yet unexplored
Awaits her fairy tale
From under the sea.

The poem is inspired by the cecaelia (or Octopus Person. The most famous (and only one I know of) cecaelia is Ursula, from Disney's The Little Mermaid. I think the idea however is quite intriguing. Obviously after seeing The Little Mermaid it's easy to see the character as a villain, but I see a great story with the cecaelia as the "princess" of the story.
