He lingers, hiding in plain sight,
Neighbor, friend, and confidant
He convinces the world to see
Distorted views of reality.
Deceiving the world with ease and haste--
He creates polarity:
Two sides to disguise the truth,
While we concern ourselves over
His manufactory of distortion and lies
Craftily subverting words that comprise--
Misconceptions and assumptions combined
To fuel an image of evil and fear
Yet the real mastermind is clothed
In the purest white, blameless to world
But rotting from the inner core
Spilling out the pain we endure...
No one thinks to look there,
At the heart of it all--
Evil doesn't hide in shadows of night
Or corridors of crime and shame
But in the very church bearing Christ's name.
"And he said, Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and the time draweth near: go ye not therefore after them." -- Luke 21:8 KJV If evil really looked the way most people imagine, would it really fool you? |
